DISPATCHER

Job Title: Dispatcher

Reports To: Store Manager
Pay Structure: Hourly/Non-Exempt

We are in search of skilled Dispatchers that have the ability to function well as part of a team. You must have very effective organizational and communication skills to service our clientele efficiently.

The Dispatcher position is responsible for organizing the daily dispatch of equipment for the branch, working in compliance with all legal and safety requirements regarding the safe transport of equipment.

We seek highly motivated and experienced Dispatchers with a background in construction and industrial equipment. Knowledge of hydraulics, electronics, gas and diesel machinery is preferred.

Minimum Requirements

  • Previous dispatch and customer service experience in the equipment rental/construction industry and/or related field preferred

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Responsible for scheduling drivers and organizing the daily dispatch of all equipment for the branch
  • Coordinate transportation demands for equipment needs on a normal and emergency basis
  • Perform record keeping as needed
  • Maintain customer relations via phone and fax, and making additions, cancellations, and changes regarding equipment location
  • Ensure accuracy of rental contract information prior to dispatching driver
  • Suggest equipment and supplies to meet customer needs
  • Determine equipment available for rental
  • Perform inventory control processes
  • Load and unload equipment, assist with deliveries and prepare equipment for rental
  • Check equipment for damage, record hours used, mileage and fuel levels for billing purposes
  • Inspect equipment and trucks for safety decals and compliance, and ensure that equipment is in good working order
  • Follow proper cash accounts procedures
  • Follow all Cresco Operational Procedures and QC Standards
  • Perform any other duties as assigned by the Store Manager or any Cresco Manager

Education, Experience and Required Skills, Including Certificates, Licenses and Registrations

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Valid California driver’s license
  • Knowledge of DOT/Federal Motor Carrier rules and regulations
  • Knowledge of GVW’s, state regulations regarding height and weight maximums
  • Knowledge of winch operations, hazmat transport and placarding preferred

Physical Demands and/or Work Environment

  • Frequent lifting up to 25 lbs., occasional lifting up to 50 lbs., and infrequent lifting up to 75 lbs
  • Ability to walk and stand on concrete and uneven surfaces for at least 4 hours per day
  • Ability to sit for at least 4 hours per day
  • Ability to climb over and into heavy equipment several times per day
  • Exposure to bright lights, extreme temperatures, loud noise, dust, gas and/or fumes
  • Other duties assigned as needed
